The Lancers Prepare for Monday Night Volleyball in the Events Center

RIVERSIDE--- The California Baptist University volleyball team is set to play Monday night volleyball against Grand Canyon in the Dale E. & Sarah Ann Folwer Events Center.
Playing in the Events Center has been an annual affair for the Lancers since the building was constructed ahead of the 2017-18 season (outside of the COVID-shortened 2020 season). CBU is 3-1 in the Events Center, including a 3-1 victory over Abilene Christian last season.
CBU will play Grand Canyon for the first time in 2023, with the Lopes entering the match in second in the Western Athletic Conference at 5-1, with its only loss coming to top-seeded Stephen F. Austin. CBU is currently on a four-game slide, having played four top-5 teams in the WAC in a row. The Lancers will enter the matchup at 3-4 in WAC play and 10-8 overall.
The Lopes and Lancers have a long history, with matchups dating back to 1992. Fifteen matches have been played in the series, with the Lopes coming away with eleven. The two teams split their last two meetings, with GCU winning in 2022 and CBU winning in 2021 in sweeps.
