RIVERSIDE--- In the third week of the Western Athletic Conference schedule, California Baptist University volleyball will travel to Texas to take on Stephen F. Austin and UT Arlington.
The Lancers head into the matchups 10-5 and 3-1 in conference play. CBU split the previous week with a four-set win over Tarleton and a five-set defeat at the hands of Abilene Christian, both in Riverside. The loss to ACU ended a DI program record nine-game winning streak for the Lancers, including wins over Southern Utah, UC Irvine, Oregon State, and Nevada.

The first match of the week for the Lancers will be against SFA, the reigning WAC Champions and WAC favorites. The Lady Jacks enter the match atop the standings at 15-4 overall and undefeated in conference play at 4-0. SFA has yet to drop a set in conference play, sweeping UT Arlington, Seattle U, Utah Valley, and UTRGV to open their schedule.
The Lancers and Lady Jacks met for the first time last season, with SFA coming away in both. The second of the matchups occurred in the WAC tournament, where CBU competed in its first-ever tournament following its four-year transition to DI.
The UT Arlington matchup on Saturday will close out the week as the Lancers will face the Mavericks for the second time in program history. In 2022, CBU defeated UTA in Arlington in four sets and will look to replicate their success in their second trip to College Park Center.
The Mavericks enter the week 13-4 with a 6-1 home record and 2-2 in WAC play. UTA is coming off road wins at Seattle U and Utah Valley after dropping their opening two contests to SFA and UTRGV, respectively.
CBU is led offensively by Michalina Rola, Catherine Krieger, and Nicole Mauser, all of whom have surpassed the 100-kill threshold, with Rola going over 200 kills this past weekend. The Lancers recently got a boost with the return of libero Brianna Young to the lineup and the debut of Eliana Posada at opposite hitter. Young recorded a career-high 27 digs in the loss to ACU and has hit the 20-dig mark in two of her first three starts. Meanwhile, Posada made her collegiate debut this weekend and racked up 17 kills and seven blocks.
