
The Lancers Fall to Texans in Final WAC Road Trip

STEPHENVILLE--- The California Baptist University women's volleyball team finished out its final conference road trip with a bout against the Tarleton Texans.
The Texans got the better of the Lancers in straight sets to drop the Lancers to even in Western Athletic Conference play at 7-7 and 14-11 overall. CBU now slides back into fifth in the conference standings as the regular season schedule begins to come to a close.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Set one was as entertaining as it gets, with 11 ties and several lead changes. The Texans and Lancers both hit over .340 in the hitting percentage department, and the teams combined for 33 kills in the opening set. The Texans earned four of the final five points, won the set 25-22, and took the early 1-0 advantage.
The Texans extended their lead to 2-0 after jumping out early on the Lancers with an 8-2 opening run. The Texans would hold off a few CBU runs throughout the period and eventually take the set 25-17.
The Texans would once again take the early advantage in the third set and would off a late CBU rally to earn the set and the match.
STATISTICAL NOTABLES:
Nicole Mauser led all Lancers with 12 kills and hit .458 in the match. The Dallas native continues to compile an incredible freshman season, bringing her totals to 210 kills and 60 blocks.
Reese Reed dished out 22 assists as the primary setter for the Lancers and chipped in four digs and a pair of service aces.
NEXT: The Lancers return home for a pair of critical conference matches against UT Arlington and Stephen F. Austin as they look to clinch a spot in the WAC Tournament for back-to-back seasons.
