RIVERSIDE - California Baptist University Associate Athletic Director of Compliance Michael Scarano resigned from his post on Thursday following over 10 years of service to CBU Athletics.
"Michael Scarano has been a cornerstone figure for CBU athletics over the past decade," remarked Vice President for Athletics, Dr. Micah Parker. "California Baptist University and Athletics cannot thank Michael enough for his hard work and dedication to our campus and community, and we wish him the best as he moves on to new challenges."
During his time at CBU, Michael helped guide the Lancers through their transitions to full member status at both the Division II and Division I levels. His purview extended beyond the NCAA rule books as he was sport supervisor to many Olympic sports, including men's and women's cross country and track, swim and dive, men's soccer, and more. Scarano lent his expertise directly to events on occasion, acting as the official starter for many local high school and collegiate cross country events, including the 2021 Western Athletic Conference Cross Country Championship races hosted by CBU.
Scarano joined California Baptist in August of 2013 as part of a long and exemplary career in college athletics. Previously, Scarano held positions at UC Riverside, Waldorf University in Forest City, Iowa, and the University of Alabama in Huntsville. Before joining the administrative side of college athletics, Scarano coached men's and women's cross country, women's basketball, and men's basketball at multiple stops, including Huntsville, Cal Poly Pomona, and UC Irvine.
Scarano and his wife plan to return to Huntsville, Alabama.
