CLEVELAND, OHIO --- The National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) finalized the official standings of the 2024-2025 LEARFIELD Directors Cup Rankings, which saw California Baptist University finish in the top 100 of all NCAA Division I programs.
The Lancers finished 100th overall, first in the Western Athletic Conference, and were ranked ninth among non-football institutions. CBU's LEARFIELD success came from a triumphant athletic year that yielded three conference championships and six teams reaching the NCAA postseason. The Lancers scored a total of 188.50 points, marking the second-most points in the last four years. California Baptist secured its final spring points with an impressive outing at the 2025 Outdoor Track and Field National Championship after Valentin Soca capped the athletic year with a fourth-place finish in the Men's 5K finals with a time of 13:21.76 for a First-Team All-America honor.
CBU also received points for women's soccer, men's cross country, men's water polo, men's and women's swim and dive, and wrestling for reaching the national tournament during the year. The Lancers tallied 113 points during the fall, 53.50 points in winter, and 22 points in the spring.
"We are proud of our outstanding student-athletes, coaches, and staff for finishing the highest in our conference, ninth in non-football schools, and 100th overall," remarked Vice President for Athletics Dr. Micah Parker. "It's the second year in a row we have been able to score higher than over 250 Division I schools in the LEARFIELD Cup."
The University of Texas secured its fourth LEARFIELD Directors' Cup this year and ended the athletic year with 1255.25 points. USC finished in second place in the Big Ten after accumulating 1253.75 points, and Stanford ended in third place with 1251 points. For the WAC, California Baptist finished first by 46 points ahead of Grand Canyon University and Tarleton State.
The LEARFIELD Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in NCAA Championships. The 2025-26 Division I LEARFIELD Directors' Cup standings will begin after the fall sports season is complete.
