WSOC Preview: Lancers Look to Continue Win Streak Against Rams
8/25/2023 4:00:00 PM | Women's Soccer
RIVERSIDE--- CBU opened their home schedule with a 3-1 win over NJIT on Thursday evening and will now look to Sunday as they welcome Colorado State to CBU Soccer Stadium. The Lancers are currently 2-0 on the season after a pair of local matches, hoping to continue their two-game winning streak.
THE LANCERS AT A GLANCE
After picking up a win against crosstown rivals UCR, the Lancers returned home to play NJIT in their home opener and came away with a 3-1 win. Kaylee Hauck kicked off the scoring for the Lancers, while an own goal by NJIT and a set-piece goal from Lourdes Bosch secured the victory.
CBU has seen major success in the final third of the attack in their last two matches, with both Frida Murrieta and Bosch tallying a pair of goals on the year. Natalia Castro and Kaylee Hauck have also found the back of the net this season. The Lancers have totaled seven goals, including the own-goal by NJIT, this season already and won't be slowing down any time soon with Bosch and Hauck on the attack.

MATCH NOTES
This will be the first match between these two squads in the history of the programs. While the teams haven't played any common opponents this season, the Rams did beat Utah Tech last season 2-1, while the Lancers earned a 1-0 win during conference play last year as well.
THE RAMS AT A GLANCE
Colorado State opened the season with a 1-0-1 record, allowing just one goal in two matches. The Rams have also found success in the attacking third and have netted four goals during their two opening-week games. Leading the scoring for the Rams are Katy Coffin and Olivia Fout, who both own a pair of goals. Fout is currently leading the squad with four shots on goal, and Coffin has tallied three SOG this season. The duo are dangerous up top and will test the Lancer's backline.
Colorado just missed the Mountain West Tournament last season after earning a berth to the postseason during head coach Keeley Hagen's first season with the team in 2021. The squad welcomed twelve newcomers this season with four of those new Rams making their way into the starting lineup, including leading goal scorer Fout.
