VB Preview: CBU Finishes Non-Conference Schedule at WAC/Big West Showdown

RIVERSIDE--- The California Baptist University volleyball team will take on the UC Irvine Anteaters and Cal State Fullerton Titans in the upcoming WAC/Big West Showdown.
The Lancers are coming off a 3-0 weekend in the CBU-UCR tournament in which they defeated Nevada and Oregon State in five-set thrillers and swept their crosstown rivals, UC Riverside. The wins pushed CBU's record to 5-4, including a 2-0 home start.

Meanwhile, the opponents for the Lancers enter into the matchup with a combined 3-13 record. The Anteaters of UC Irvine are coming off an 0-3 tournament showing at the Cougar Classic, with losses to a pair of ranked opponents in #11 Washington State and #12 BYU. For Cal State Fullerton, they enter into the showdown at 1-6, but are coming off a 3-2 win over American in their home opener.
The Lancers and Anteaters will meet for the third time in program history, having split their previous two encounters. IT will be the team's second meeting at a neutral venue after CBU defeated UCI last season at the GCU Tournament in Phoenix in five sets. The game against CSUF will be the fourth meeting of the two teams, with the Titans holding a 2-1 series edge over the Lancers. Fullerton claimed the last two meetings, including a four-set win over CBU last season in Phoenix.
Statistically, the Lancers are led in kills by their phenomenal outside hitters Michalina Rola and Catherine Krieger, who have both eclipsed the century mark at 121 and 105, respectively. Freshman Nicole Mauser ranks third in that department at opposite hitter with 80.
