THE LEAD UP:
The Lancers head into this tournament with a 2-4 record, taking one win and two losses in the previous tournaments. At the Tommie Invitational last week, CBU was the lone team to defeat tournament champion Milwaukee on the weekend, defeating them in a 3-1 match. The Lancers would proceed to drop the next two games in four sets to host St. Thomas and Montana State.
CBU takes down Milwaukee in the first match of the St. Thomas Tournament 3-1.

The Lancers are led offensively by outside hitters Michalina Rola and Catherine Krieger, who have amassed a combined for 160 kills on the young season. Rola has recorded five double-doubles in her six matches and was named to the All-Tournament team at the Santa Clara/SJSU Invitational. Krieger came on strong in the Tommie Invitational with 42 kills and 35 digs to earn an All-Tournament nod.

The Nevada Wolfpack head into the tournament with a 2-4 record as well, with wins over Iowa and Eastern Washington and losses to Pacific, Seattle U, Cal Poly, and Sacramento State. Oregon State begins the tournament with the best record in the field at 3-2, including three straight sweeps over Oklahoma, North Dakota, and Boise State. The Highlanders are still looking for their first win of the season after two road tournaments did not yield a victory.
MATCHUP HISTORY:
CBU has faced two of the three opponents before, with Oregon State being the only new opposition for the Lancers.
CBU and Nevada last squared off in 2019 when the Lancers made the trip to Reno. The match was tight throughout and had to be decided in extra sets, with the Wolfpack taking the game 15-12 in a fifth set. Although CBU has never faced Oregon State, the two teams have faced Montana State in 2023, with both teams losing to the Bobcats in tightly-contested matches. The match-up will mark the third time the Lancers have ever met a Power-5 opponent in the Division-1 era, with previous 0-3 losses to Washington State and Texas A&M and a 3-0 sweep of Mississippi State. The win over the Bulldogs in 2018 was the program's first-ever win over a Power-5 opponent. A Lancer win over Oregon State would be the first-ever home win over a power-5 foe and first win over a PAC-12 team.
CBU and UCR have extensive matchup history, with seven encounters since 1994. The Lancers and Highlanders have met four of the past five seasons, with the exception being the COVID-shortened 2020 season. CBU has not lost to UCR in the D-1 era, claiming the last four games, and have swept the Highlanders in their previous two meetings.
