11/16/2024 2:24:00 PM | Women's Basketball
RIVERSIDE - Grace Schmidt shined in the Lancers 2024-25 home opener against Pepperdine, dropping a career-high 34 points on Saturday afternoon, but the Waves would come out with the ultimate prize, a 75-64 victory.
Schmidt led the charge right out of the gate, scoring CBU's first 10 points. The Waves had no answer for her all day but responded in kind offensively by shooting 47% in the game. CBU dominated in the paint, outscoring Pepperdine 44-24 in the key, but the Waves used 10 three-pointers to pull away for the win.
Anaiyah Tu'ua posted her first double-digit scoring effort of the season, adding 10 points to the cause, but her true highlight of the day was a career-high nine assists. Nhug Bosch Duran was the third and final Lancer in double digits, also adding 10 points to CBU's total.
The Lancers will return to the Fowler Event Center on Wednesday night to take on the Aztecs of San Diego State. Tipoff for that game is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
