RIVERSIDE - Stavros Charalampous leads a handful of Lancers on the 2024 list of All-Conference honorees. The Western Athletic Conference coaches voted Charalampous First Team All-WAC, with first-year goalkeeper Hugo Do Rego and four-year starting defender David Cordes to Second Team, rounded out by leading-scorer Blake D'Agostino and Andrew Lovell to the WAC All-Freshman team.
Five Lancers on the list match the second-most ever by CBU, first done in 2022, topped only by last year's seven honorees. Charalampous is honored back-to-back seasons after making the 2023 WAC Freshman list. Charalampous is the only Lancer this season to play in and start every game, posting the most minutes played by a non-goalkeeper this season, 1,336.
Do Rego joins Nolan Premack (2023) as the only Lancer goalkeeper to earn an All-WAC spot since joining the Division I ranks. Do Rego had a remarkable first year in Riverside, earning four Goalkeeper of the Week awards and finishing among the top of the league in shutouts (T-5th - four), saves (2nd - 82), saves per game (2nd - 5.13), and save percentage (1st - .796). He also posted the best single-game saves number when he stopped 12 shots at LMU on September 20th.
Cordes claims his third all-conference honor in four years, previously earning All-Freshman (Fall 2021) and Second Team (2022) honors. Cordes started all nine WAC contests this season, scoring two game-tying goals against UNLV and Grand Canyon.
D'Agostino led the Lancers with five goals this season while simultaneously leading all WAC freshmen in the same category. D'Agostino appeared in all 17 games this season, starting nine of them.
Lovell was third on CBU in goals scored (three) and points (six), claiming the opening strikes against #1 West Virginia and UNLV. He missed just one game this season, making three starts against UC Riverside, UNLV, and San Diego State.
CBU is back in action this Saturday as the No. 3 seed in the WAC Tournament after a week of rest, set to take on No. 6 seed Utah Tech in Phoenix, AZ. Game time is set for 6:00 p.m. Pacific time.
