Swim and Dive Return from Vegas With Wins

RIVERSIDE - California Baptist men's and women's swim and dive teams closed out the 2024 calendar season at the UNLV Finis Invite against top programs such as UCLA, UNLV, and Cal Poly. The men's side took fourth place out of seven teams, with 577.50 points, while the women placed fifth out of an eight-team field, with 280 total points.
The Lancers took the top spot in eight of the 42 events they competed in, paced by Remi Fabiani and Mark Kovacsic, each of whom won a pair of races. Andrija Petkovic also brought back individual gold, touching first in the 200 free. Liam Flaherty, Brendan Man, Tyler Mansheim, Andrew Teh, and Justin Welch would all compete for podium spots with A Final qualifications.
Mario Del Valle swept the men's springboard events with a final 1-meter score of 355.40 and a 3-meter score of 358.20. Gael Jimenez joined him on the podium following the 3-meter event with a second-place effort, while John Angelovic claimed third place in the 1-meter competition.
For the women, Sofia Maksimova and Emily Drossel were the only Lancers to make an A Final heat. Drossel earned dual seventh place finishes in her butterfly events while Maksimova won her 50 free race. Audrey Thordarson-Wehner took third on the 3-meter board and fourth on the 1-meter, finishing behind only UCLA divers in both events.
