LA JOLLA - California Baptist University men's and women's swim teams finished the 2024-25 regular season with one final dual in La Jolla on Saturday. The Tritons of UC San Diego made it a clean sweep of the Lancers, defeating the men 162-100 while the women fell by a score of 206.5 to 55.5.
CBU won eight of the 28 contested events on Saturday, with the men securing the bulk of those wins with six. The 200 medley relay team remained dominant as they've been for much of the season, with Remi Fabiani leading off for them and collecting a pair of individual wins. Tyler Manshiem, third leg of that winning relay team, earned one individual win on the day in the 100 butterfly. Reigning Western Athletic Conference Swimmer of the Week, Mark Kovacsics continued his winning ways, securing dominant wins in the 1,650 and 500 freestyle races. The women's side earned two wins on Saturday as Sofia Maksimova touched first in her 50 free, while Naya Koc took the top spot in the 100 free race.
The Lancer dive team has one remaining regular season event left on the schedule, next weekend in Colorado Springs at the Air Force Diving Invitational. After that, the whole squad will take the majority of February to prep and prime for the WAC Championships in Edinburg, Texas, at the end of the month.
