Lancers Continue WAC Season with Two in Texas

ARLINGTON, TX --- CBU's conference-opening road trip travels to the Lone Star State next, as the Lancers will play two games in Texas to ring in the New Year. Following a loss on opening night of the WAC schedule, the Lancers will look for WAC win number one on Thursday when they visit UT Arlington.
The Lancers will play twice during their trip to Texas. Following their visit to Arlington, CBU will play Tarleton State on Saturday.
WAC play opened on Monday with the Lancers visiting Utah Valley in Orem. The Lancers took a six-point lead into halftime, but a 13-point swing followed in the second half, leading to a 73-66 victory for the Wolverines.
Monday's loss snapped a three-game win streak for the Lancers, dating back to CBU's 88-83 win against Eastern Washington on December 12.
CBU dominated the glass in Monday's loss, outrebounding the Wolverines 36-21. The Lancers have won the rebound battle in 12 of their 14 games this season and are 10-2 in those contests. CBU is outrebounding opponents by 9.8 RPG, giving the Lancers the No. 25 rebound margin in Division I.
Dominique Daniels Jr. scored 17 points in Monday's loss. Daniels Jr. averages 20.5 PPG, the No. 25 best scoring average in Division I.
CBU's first test in Texas comes on New Year's Day when the Lancers take on UT Arlington. The Mavericks dropped their conference opener, 69-63, on Monday against Tarleton State, and enter Thursday with an 8-5 record on the season.
The Mavericks are averaging 71.9 PPG through 13 contests and pull down an average of 38.5 RPG. Raysean Seamster leads the Mavericks with 14.1 PPG, followed by Marcell McCreary at 12.5 PPG. Three players finished in double-figures in Monday's loss, as McCreary (12) and Seamster (11) were joined by Jordan Lowery (11).
Thursday's action is slated for noon (PT).
After they visit Arlington, the Lancers will travel to Stephenville to play Tarleton State. Tarleton is 1-0 in WAC play thanks to their win against UT Arlington. Cam McDowell led the scoring with 23 points off the bench. The victory pushed the Texans to 10-4 overall.
Tarleton will be in action on Thursday night as Utah Valley visits Stephenville. Saturday's meeting between the Lancers and Texans is scheduled for 2 p.m. (PT).
The Lancers will return to Riverside on January 8 to host Utah Tech. Tickets for all WAC home games are on sale HERE.
