FEDERAL WAY, WA - California Baptist University senior swimmer Sofia Maksimova completed her second trip to the Women's NCAA National Championship weekend on Saturday. Maksimova made a repeat trip to the Nationals this season, again qualifying in the same three events she made it to last year.
She got the trip started on Thursday with her 50-yard freestyle race. This would ultimately prove to be her highest placement of the weekend, tying for 34th place out of 74 competitors in a time of 22.16. Friday brought with it the 100-yard Butterfly race, in which Maksimova was in the first heat of the day, finishing 50th in 53.78. Finally, Saturday's action was in the 100-yard Freestyle, where the senior clocked a time of 51-flat for 74th place.
Sofia was a Lancer for just two seasons, yet she leaves as arguably the most decorated Division I female swimmer in program history. She is not only a two-time NCAA qualifier, but she is the only female CBU swimmer to qualify even once in the short history to date. She is also a six-time Western Athletic Conference champion, with even more All-WAC finishes to her credit and the current owner of six CBU program records.
