RIVERSIDE--- The California Baptist women's soccer team recently announced the hiring of David Parker as the program's new assistant coach. Parker joins head coach Kristen St. Clair and assistant coach Tyrone Martin, bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience to Riverside.
"I'm very excited to introduce our new first assistant coach, David Parker. David brings a wealth of knowledge and experience at the club, as well as at international and professional levels," remarked St. Clair. Parker comes to CBU after working in women's soccer consulting with D27p, where he primarily worked with assisting youth clubs with structural, cultural, and developmental changes. On the coaching side, Parker oversaw Birmingham City Women FC from 2011 to 2017, when the squad was ranked the number one British side in Europe for three consecutive seasons. He was named Women's Super League Coach of the Year, reached the UEFA Champions League Semi-Final, and won the Women's FA Cup. He also reached 3 League Cup finals, narrowly missing out to Arsenal and Manchester City on those occasions, and twice finished runners in the league up to Arsenal in the WSL.
As well as leading them on the pitch, Parker was also in the Technical Director role with Birmingham and helped develop the women's soccer game significantly, branding Birmingham as one of the most successful girl's development systems in England. Parker has also had stints as a youth coach for the Chicago Fire and New York Red Bulls prior to his role in the analytics side of the game with Prozone. There, he consulted with some of the biggest clubs in Europe, leading in player recruitment and advising clubs in the pre, post, and live match environments.
Additionally, Parker has a bachelor's in Business and Finance from the University of Birmingham and a Professional Studies degree in Football Management from the University of Liverpool. He also holds a master's in Global Sports Directorship, as well as a UEFA 'A' Licence and a diploma in Football Psychology.
Parker will bring his soccer experience to the CBU women's soccer team at just the right time, as the Lancers are coming off an extremely successful 2024 campaign that saw a Western Athletic Conference Championship and an NCAA Tournament appearance.
