RIVERSIDE - The National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) announced updated standings on Thursday morning for the Learfield Directors' Cup with the finalization of the Winter season. The list has California Baptist University athletics ranked 77th overall, still third among all AAA, or non-football, institutions, and the clear leader among Western Athletic Conference programs.
The Lancers added 53.5 points to their 113 already collected in the Fall, courtesy of men's swimmer Remi Fabiani (30 points) placing at the men's 100 freestyle at the National Championships and wrestling's Hunter Leake (23.5 points) winning a match at NCAA's a few weeks ago.
Only Vermont (225 total points) and Providence (182 total points) rank above CBU in the AAA category. However, the Lancers lead the WAC by a comfortable margin, as Tarleton State is the next conference member on the list with 88.5 points, placing them 120th overall. Utah Valley (151st place/68 points), Grand Canyon (165th place, 50 points), Abilene Christian (185th place/45 points), and Seattle (209th place/25 points) round out the top five in the Western Athletic Conference.
CBU will aim to improve upon last year's program's best finish when the Lancers closed out the 2023-24 season with 246 points, which left them in 86th place overall, 5th among non-football institutions, and 2nd in the WAC.
