RIVERSIDE--- The California Baptist University track team will hit the road to Arlington, Texas, this week as they are set to compete in the 2025 Western Athletic Conference Track and Field Championships.
The Lancers have had a successful Outdoor season with multiple athletes setting new personal bests and several earning top times on the NCAA leaderboard. CBU, which only competes in the distance events, will be in contention for several individual titles and is looking to stamp a few more tickets to West Regionals, which will commence in a few weeks at College Station.
CBU will have a strong contingent on the men's side this week, led by Valentin Soca, Daniel Abdala, and Pedro Marin. Soca ran the third fastest time in the NCAA in the 5K this season at the Bryan Clay Invitational and had already secured his spot at West Regionals. Soca will look to add another qualifying time in the 1.5K at WAC this week. Soca will be joined by Abdala and Marin, who have also run regional qualifying times this year, with Abdala doing so in the 5K and 10K and Marin in the 10K. On the women's side, freshman Ava Dyck will look to keep her phenomenal true freshman season alive as she looks to snag a regional qualifying time in the 5K. Along with Dyck will be a strong group of freshmen who will also see if they can earn top times and earn All-WAC honors.
