
CBU Opens Outdoor Season with Solid Showing at the Rossi Relays

CLAREMONT, CA--- The California Baptist University track team opened its 2026 season on Saturday as it competed at the Rossi Relays in Claremont, California.
CBU competed in six total events on the day, including the 4x800 Relays, the 4000 Distance Medley, and the Men's and Women's 3K.
The Lancers would open the day by sweeping the 4x800 Relays with both the men's and women's squads winning the competition in succession. The women began the afternoon by setting the meet record with a time of 9:04.86 besting the previous time by three milliseconds. The team of Sophia Clarkson, Petra Kis, Nazarena Rivas, and Lamiae Mamouni would secure the record time. The men would also fare very well, winning the event in 7:47.04, beating Claremont Mudd-Scripps by 5 seconds. The team of Jude Enriquez, Joshua Mitchell, Joshua Griffin, and Finn Anspach would bring home the victory for CBU.
CBU had more success in the 4000 Distance Medley, placing 1st, 3rd, and 12th in the field. CBU's first team, comprised of Sarah Schiffman, Lamiae Mamouni, Sophia Clarkson, and Isalys Huet, would take home the top spot on the podium with a cushion of 9 seconds, while the Lancers' second squad would also get on the podium in third at 12:02.57. The second was led by Ana Mees, Helena Mees, Abby Biber, and Petra Kis. CBU's final group in the field would finish in the top half in 12th place. The men would field three groups in the event as well, with its top team finishing third behind Pepperdine and Claremont Mudd-Scripps. CBU's second team would place 5th, while its final squad would come in 13th.
The day would end with the 3K with both men's and women's teams competing in several heats. The women kicked off the event with just three Lancers running in the first heat. Eleonara Visnevskyte would pace the group in 5th place with a time of 9:57.40, while Ceyda Pinar would come in right behind her with a time of 9:59.99. Lindsie Fausett would place in the top 30 with a time of 10:40.96 to round out the event for the women.
On the men's side, CBU would dominate the competition with six of the top seven finishers in the field. The two top finishers would run unattached, with Pedro Marin and Gabriel Guzman placing 1-2. The top five placers for CBU would all break the meet record set in 2008 by Aron Rono of APU. Marin now holds the new meet record at 8:04.95. Manuel Rojas would be the top official runner for the Lancers in third, while Jude DeVries and Victor Rosas would round out the top five. Nicolai Martino made his outdoor debut and would finish 7th with a solid time of 8:14.57.
