CBU Draws #1 UCLA on Selection Sunday

RIVERSIDE--- The California Baptist University women's basketball team heard its name called for the second time in program history on Selection Sunday, as it will be a #16 seed in the Round of 64 and will face the Bruins of UCLA for the second time in the Tournament in the last three seasons.
The Lancers earned the automatic qualifier from the Western Athletic Conference after dominating Abilene Christian 76-54 in Las Vegas to punch their ticket to the Big Dance for the first time since 2024. CBU finished the season as the WAC Regular Season Champions and is currently 23-10.
Their opposition will be familiar, as they will once again make the local trek to Pauley Pavilion to face the #1 UCLA Bruins. The Bruins finished the season an incredible 31-1 and capped it off with a BIG 10 Tournament Title over the Iowa Hawkeyes. The Bruins have been #2 in the AP poll the majority of the season and have been neck and neck with the undefeated UCONN Huskies in the NET rankings.
