RIVERSIDE--- Filipa Barros collected her third WAC Player of the Week honors in the final award announcement of the regular season after leading the Lancers to an outright Regular Season Title to close the regular season for the California Baptist University women's basketball team.
The Lancers clinched the outright title on Thursday evening in Abilene, Texas, defeating the ACU Wildcats 76-69 in an overtime thriller to secure their third WAC regular-season title in the last six seasons. CBU would then go on to defeat Southern Utah on Saturday afternoon to finish the season 15-3 in conference play and 21-10 overall.
Barros was the hero of the ACU game on Thursday night, scoring a team-high 26 points on 50% shooting from the floor. Barros took over in overtime, scoring 11 of the team's 13 points in the period, including three straight triples that put the game out of reach, and secured the victory for CBU. Barros would also haul in 14 rebounds to make it her 12th double-double of the season. Barros followed that up with another double-double in the Saturday win over Southern Utah with 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Barros finished the regular season as one of the best all-around players in the conference, as she is the only player to be top ten in the conference in points, rebounds, assists, and steals. Barros averages 11 points per game, 10 rebounds per game, four assists per game, and 2.5 steals per game at the conclusion of the regular season. Barros recorded five games this season of 20+ points, including a career-high 32 points in the win over UT Arlington on January 31.
Barros and the Lancers will await the winner of the Utah Valley/Tarleton State quarterfinal game on Thursday afternoon in the 2026 WAC Tournament in Las Vegas, NV.
