FAYETTEVILLE, AR--- The California Baptist University track team opened up its West Regionals run in the Men's 10K on Wednesday night as Victor Rosas earned a top 25 finish in the prestigious field.
Rosas missed the final cut for Eugene by 13 spots in the 48-man field but would earn a top-25 finish, outperforming his seeding by 8 spots in the region. Rosas finished in front of a handful of returning NCAA qualifiers and would put himself in position to make the cut for Eugene.
Rosas tucked into the front of the lead group for the opening 5000M before settling into the third group for the majority of the final push. Rosas would have his fastest lap on the bell lap, throwing down a 63-second final push to end with a time of 29:24.83 and 25th place in the race. The time is the second-fastest of his collegiate career, with only his Stanford qualifying time being faster.
Rosas finished the season with a second-team All-WAC performance in the Men's 5K and personal best times in the 10K, 5K, 1500M, and 3000M. Rosas earned the fifth-fastest time in program history in the 10K at Stanford (28:32.88) and qualified for West Regionals for the first time in his career.
