2019-20
Secured an All-WAC, third-place finish and set a CBU record in the 200-yard medley relay (1:26.89) at the WAC Championships... Added four other top-six finishes in the WAC: fourth in the 400-free relay (2:57.07), fifth in the 400-medley (3:13.53) and 200-free relays (1:20.33), sixth in the 800-free relay (6:36.34)... Qualified for the CSCAA National Invitational Championships in the 50 (20.78), 100 (45.29) and 200 frees (1:38.72) and 100 back (49.63)... Notched top-10 times in CBU history in the 50 free (20.78), 200 free (1:38.72), 100 back (49.63) and 100 IM (51.14)... Also took 16th in the 200 free (1:40.23) and 22nd in the 100 free (45.49) at the WAC Meet... Named to the WAC All-Academic Team.
Logged season bests and top-10 times in CBU's all-time record book in the 200 backstroke (eighth, 1:48.44) and 100 back (49.89)... Took 11th in the 200 back (1:48.44) at the WAC Championships... Won the 200 back (1:51.46) at the Lancer Swim/Dive Invitational and swam on the winning 500-medley relay team (4:38.49) in a dual with Claremont-Mudd-Scripps... Finished second in the 200 back (1:53.36) in a dual with Air Force.

Prepped at Centennial High in Corona, Calif., where he graduated in 2018... Voted 2018 Press-Enterprise Male Swimmer of the Year... Set school records in every event except the 100 butterfly and 100 freestyle... Served as team captain as a junior and senior... Swam club with Brea Aquatics.

Born and raised in Corona, Calif... Son of Emil and Estera Niculae... Has three siblings: Andrew, David and Jacob... Enjoys basketball, soccer, volleyball and computers... Lists Isaiah 40:29-31 as his favorite Bible passage... Computer science major with a computer engineering minor... Plans to work for a major tech firm after graduation.
