Summer Avery helped California Baptist University volleyball make history as the first team to qualify for a national postseason tournament during the NCAA Division I era. The Lancers and Avery were not content, though, as they picked up a first-round win in the National Invitational Volleyball Championship over Little Rock on Thursday before seeing their season come to an end in a four-set loss to Tulane. Avery compiled 26 kills (2.89 a set) on a .309 percentage, 20 digs (2.22) and also had two blocks and an ace in both matches. Avery was huge in the win over Little Rock, with a match-high 18 kills on a .357 percentage (18-3-42) and 11 digs. She had four kills in the deciding fifth set and also had seven kills and four digs in CBU's first win of the match in set two (25-12).
