Softball and Baseball Clubhouse
Baseball
Softball
The clubhouse occupies the same space where the former softball office and locker room stood, on Lancer Lane in the left-field corner of the baseball outfield. The new building provides 14,411 square feet of space where both teams and staff will work to bring CBU more championships from the diamond.
The main floor houses the locker rooms for both teams, with softball's 30 lockers residing on the east side of the building and baseball's 40 lockers on the west side. The locker rooms are equipped with audio and visual hookups so teams can follow along with live action across the conference during the season. The baseball locker room will exit directly into the visiting bullpen, which feeds onto the playing field. Both spaces will include showers, team laundry facilities, athletic training suites, and kitchenettes where players can refuel after practice or between doubleheaders.
In addition to the state-of-the-art locker rooms, the clubhouse also features a lobby with an interactive database of the two programs' rosters, statistics, and biographies spanning back to 2002. Encompassing the height of the entire building, the wall behind the interactive screen is a visual feature referred to as the Rain Wall, in which over 11,000 backlit individual holes pull the visitor's eyes to the focal point where championships trophies are prominently displayed.
When arriving on the second floor of the building, visitors are met with an expansive backlit wall listing the accomplishments of these two programs over the years. This feature will be a one-stop-shop to learn about the Lancer championships, All-American honorees, conference award winners, and the dozens of MLB draft picks over the years. The main light feature on the upper- level consists of nine, six-foot- tall aluminum bats hanging from the ceiling tying into the purpose of the building.
Both programs have five coach offices. Many of those office spaces will have direct access to a balcony space that will overlook each program's respective field. In addition to the offices, each area will have additional workspace for support staff and student managers to accommodate program growth. Between the coach areas is a shared meeting room that will host full team meetings and study hall sessions throughout the school year.
The completion of this project caps a years-long effort to improve the facilities of two of CBU's winningest programs. The building is the final puzzle piece after installing outfield video boards ahead of the 2022 season, softball field turf installed in 2023, and the entire baseball field turf installed before the 2024 season. This is another physical indication of CBU's dedication to the Division I level of competition, as this building can stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the Dale E. and Sarah Ann Fowler Events Center, Athletic Performance Center, and CBU Soccer Stadium as part of one of the best athletic facility group in the Big West Conference.
