Freshman Spenser Steele, who scored the game-tying goal in the win over
The Lancers out-shot the Royals, 20-5, including an 11-3 margin in the second half. However, the Royals wasted little time making good on what few chances they had. Kyle Corrothers blasted home a shot from the top of the box just 19 seconds into the match to give the Royals a quick 1-0 advantage.
Just 5 minutes later, Fashinu-Ron Nesbeth scored his team-leading fifth goal of the year off an assist from Steele. The goal was Nesbeth's first since Aug. 30. The Royals, however, needed just 5 minutes to retake the lead when Koffi Badohoun scored in the 11th minute to give HIU a 2-1 lead it would carry into the locker room.
CBU turned up the pressure in the second half, but struggled to finish until Steele got the equalizer in the 74th minute for his first of 2 goals in a 12 minute span. His second goal came in the 86th minute, and gave the Lancers a 3-2 lead. Jose Solis assisted on both of Steele's goals, the second game in a row where he had a pair of assists.
In the 88th minute, Federico Cino added an insurance goal, his first of the season. It was unassisted. The Lancers' 4 goals scored is their biggest scoring output of the season.
