IRVINE, Calif. --- While they only trailed by a 1-goal margin at the half, the Lancers were victimized by 5 Anteater goals in the third period, and 7 from Colin Mello throughout the day, in an 11-8 loss to No. 11 UC Irvine.
It was the No. 20-ranked Lancers' ninth loss in as many tries to fellow rated teams this season, as they fall to 23-10. California Baptist closes out its season Nov. 11-12 with matchups against No. 1 USC and No. 9 UC Santa Barbara, respectively.
Jon Miller extended his school single-season saves record to 255 saves, second in the country, while Ryan Steiger netted 3 goals to push his nation-leading goal total to 88 on the season. Steiger is now second on the school charts, but needs to net 7 scores in his final 2 games to tie the record of 95, set by Andre Pedroni n the program's ingural season of 1999.
A day removed from a career-high 6-goal output, Aaron Abellano's steal total moves up to 75 with 5 nabs on the afternoon. He trails the current record-holder, California Baptist assistant coach Mike Moreno (1999) by 14 thefts with a pair of contests remaining. His 22 multi-steal games is a school record, 3 games higher than the previous record-holder.
Chris Morgan tucked away a pair of goals and handed out 3 assists while Josh Harris scored twice.
