LOS ANGELES, Calif. --- Ryan Steiger became just the second player in California Baptist history to net 90 goals in a single season, but the No. 20 Lancers were outscored 14-5 to lose to USC, the top-ranked team in the country.
Steiger's 90 goals rank him second on the school single-season chart, just 5 behind Andre Pedroni's 95 scores in 1999. The Lancers have one game remaining on the season--tomorrow at No. 3 UC Santa Barbara--and are at 21-11 on the season.
The Trojans (21-0) sprinted out to a 5-0 lead after the first quarter, and had 9 different goalscorers by the end of the afternoon. Their win streak moves up to 40 games, including 21-straight home contests.
Josh Harris netted a team-high 3 goals for California Baptist as Steiger--the nation's leading goalscorer--posted the other 2. USC was led by a trio of goals from Tommy Corcoran while Juan Delgadillo, Gabor Saursi and Justin Rappel each scored twice.
Jon Miller had 8 saves for the Lancers.
