Built in 1968, the Van Dyne Gym is the oldest athletic facility on the California Baptist campus. It is the home to CBU women's volleyball, wrestling, and STUNT. The facility also houses offices for coaches and athletics staff, and features a pair of locker rooms and an officials' locker room.
In the summer of 2005, the facility underwent a $300,000 renovation project that included painting of the interior and exterior walls, repainting of the floor to reflect the school's new colors and logo, the addition of new seating, which includes chair back seats and increases the seating capacity to 1,100 as well as new doors with a state-of-the-art security system. In addition to hosting various community and youth sporting events, including the annual Riverside Junior High School Basketball Tournament and CIF playoff contests, the Van Dyne Gym served as the host for the 2006 and 2007 NAIA Men's Volleyball National Invitational Tournament.
In 2001, the facility hosted a fundraising event in which legendary UCLA head coach John Wooden was the keynote speaker. Until 2010, the Van Dyne Gym also served as the facility for Sandals Church, a congregation of nearly 1,500 pastored by CBU alumnus Matt Brown.
