JOHNSON, Tenn. --- Fashinu-Ron Nesbeth tucked away his third goal of the young season Tuesday, but it wasn't enough to top Milligan, as California Baptist drops its second decision in as many days.
A day after being handed 7 cards (including 2 red cards) in a loss Tuesday, the Lancers were whistled for 17 fouls and a yellow card compared to just 7 by Milligan, as they fall to 1-2. The Buffs start the season at 1-0 with the win.
Kyle Wilcox wasted no time for Milligan, as he found the net off a Stuart Makinson pass in the fourth minute to put the Buffs up, 1-0.
Not to be silenced on the road, Nesbeth answered with an unassisted goal in the 14th minute, evening up the score at 1-1, but Makinson again set the table, this time for Travis Phillips, who came off the bench to net what would prove to be the game's decisive goal in the 31st minute.
Josh Blanco made 7 saves for the Lancers, who managed only 11 shots to the Buff's 16. Milligan keeper Jordan Fode recorded 5 saves for his part.
Emmanuel Ruiz-Esparza was issued a yellow card in the contest while Wilcox was also shown a yellow.
