FULLERTON, Calif. --- Yukai Sun smashed 7 aces and notched 8 kills, as the NAIA's No. 1-ranked and 3-time defending champion California Baptist swept Hope International Saturday.
The win was the Lancers' ninth in a row after losing 4 to start the season, landing them at a 9-4 record. Sun's 7 aces are tied for second-most in school single-match history.
Donald Baliaba smacked 13 kills on just 21 swings (.521 percentage), while Shamsu Awudu hit .368 (10-3-19) for the Lancers, who hit a sizzling .407 (46-13-81) on the evening, including a .579 (13-2-19) effort in the third set.
Eric Plunkett notched 30 assists, while Urs Gunthor hit .375 (5-2-8) and ended with a match-high 3 blocks.
