COSTA MESA, Calif. --- The NAIA's No. 4-ranked Vanguard won two of three doubles and then took five singles matches to post a convincing 7-2 win over No. 10 California Baptist Tuesday afternoon at the Costa Mesa Tennis Center.
Barbara Oliveira picked up the Lancers' lone singles' point, winning at No. 1 singles over Hana Jurcovicova 6-7, 6-4, 10-8 in a hard fought match. The Lancers nearly picked up another point at No. 4 when Dunya Wren pushed Damia Donkervoort to the limit before falling 4-6, 6-4, 7-5.
Oliveira and Maiara Oliveira (no relation) earned the Lancers' doubles' point at No. 2, defeating Jelena Jovic and Anna Valingsten, 8-3.
