RIVERSIDE, Calif. --- California Baptist baseball alum Aaron Hartsock has been promoted to the Kansas City Royals' Class-AA affiliate Northwest Arkansas Naturals of the Texas League.
Less than 24 hours after his Saturday (May 24) call-up, Hartsock made his first appearance with the Naturals and didn't disappoint. He tossed four innings of one-hit relief, giving up one run and striking out five without giving up a walk. All he allowed was a sixth-inning solo home run as a he picked up a four-inning save in the Naturals' 6-5 win over the Frisco Rough Riders.
Prior to his promotion, Hartsock appeared in 13 games, all in relief, going 3-2 with a 1.78 ERA for the Class-A Wilmington Blue Rocks this season. In 30.1 innings, he gave up just six earned runs and eight walks while striking out 19.
Hartsock, the 2006 GSAC Pitcher of the Year, was a 23rd round selection of the Royals in the 2006 MLB Amateur Draft.
