RIVERSIDE, Calif. — No. 2 California Baptist University had no problems rolling through Westmont Saturday night in a 3-0 (25-15, 25-14, 25-16) win.
Kari Oliver led the way for the Lancers (20-2, 10-2 GSAC) with a match-high 17 digs to go along with three aces and three assists. Ingrid Carmona was the only Lancer in double-figure kills with 10 while Noelle Dyk had nine.
Krista Hasemeyer and Danielle Sargant combined for 41 assists with Hasemeyer dishing out a match-high 26. Colleen Sweeney posted five blocks, a season-high in conference play, while Chloe Ainsworth added three aces.
Nearly every Lancer recorded a dig, 11 of the 15 that played, and the Lancers hit over .300 for the first time since Sept. 29 with a .340 (49-13-106) clip. CBU had two more blocks (8-6), 10 more digs (49-39) and had nine aces compared to none by the Warriors.
The Lancers never trailed in opening set, but never led by more than five until a late set run. CBU led 12-10, until Melinda Adelin sparked a 13-5 run to end the set. The Lancers hit .455 (17-2-33) in the set with Noelle Dyk leading the way with four kills. The Lancers were also 13-for-16 (81 percent) on sideout attempts.
Westmont opened the second with a Katelyn Lowry kill to take a 1-0 lead, but Oliver served 14 straight, as the Lancers ripped off 14 consecutive points. Fei Shi and Carmona each blasted four kills in the run. The Lancers led 19-4 before the Warriors stopped the bleeding. Westmont got within 10 at 24-14, but Carmona put it away with her fifth kill of set.
In the final set, Westmont took its biggest lead at 10-5 before the Lancers scored seven straight that included a pair of kills from Dyk and an ace from Ainsworth. After taking a 12-10 lead, CBU never gave it back up, closing the set on a 13-6 run.
The Lancers now travel to Point Loma Nazarene, Tuesday, before returning home for back-to-back matches inside Van Dyne Gym, Oct. 24 and 27.
