RIVERSIDE, Calif. — Noelle Dyk recorded her sixth double-double of the year with 12 kills and 10 digs to lead California Baptist University to a 3-0 (25-16, 25-17, 25-11) win over San Diego Christian.
The Lancers (22-2, 12-2 GSAC) moved to 7-0 this year inside Van Dyne Gym and won their sixth straight match. CBU trailed just once the entire match and that was only early in the second set and hit .361 (41-11-83) for the entire match. The Lancers did not hit under in any set.
Krista Hasemeyer was just three digs short of a double-double with seven to go with her match-high 23 assists. Danielle Sargant also had 13 assists and four digs while Katie Lockard had nine digs. Bree Rauschenbach fueled CBU on both the offensive and defensive sides with six kills and four blocks. Chloe Ainsworth also served a trio of aces.
CBU led 15-9 in the first set before Dyk ripped a kill to spark a 10-2 run to close out the set. Dyk, Rauschenbach and Jessica Ewoldt all had a kill in the run. In the second set CBU broke away from a 4-4 tie with an 11-3 run to lead 15-9. The Hawks stayed with the Lancers from that point on, but never gained any ground. The Lancers held a 14-10 lead in the final set before a Rene Simon kill ignited an 11-6 run that was capped by Dyk to give CBU its sixth conference series sweep of the year.
The Lancers will host Vanguard, Tuesday, at 7 p.m. The Lions took a five-set match away from CBU in September inside The Pit.
