RIVERSIDE, Calif. --- The NAIA's No. 7-ranked California Baptist University made quick work of The Master's Thursday evening, defeating the Mustangs, 9-0.
The win moves the Lancers to 10-6 overall, 7-4 GSAC, while TMC falls to 0-11, 0-9.
With only four players in uniform, the undermanned Mustangs were no match for the nationally-ranked Lancers, who picked up a free point at No. 3 doubles when the Mustangs defaulted. Raquel Vescovi and Jelena Savic defeated Hannah Leake and Courtney Ringler, 9-7, at No. 1, and Dunya Wren teamed with Larissa Naples to defeat Paula Higuchi and Erigena Sallaku, 8-2, at No. 2.
The Lancers then rolled to four straight-set wins in singles, dropping just three games total on the four courts. Both Wren at No. 3 and Jessica Roddy at No. 4 won by identical 6-0, 6-0 scores. Vescovi defeated Leake, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 1, and Savic downed Ringler, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 2.
