SAN DIEGO, Calif. — Kendra Morris scored a team high 14 points for California Baptist University as the Lancers fell 95-60 to No. 2 Point Loma Nazarene.
Morris was 6-for-14 from the floor and had two assists and two rebounds. Megan Bradford also scored 12 points, all in the first half, while Heather Couzens scored 11. Couzens also led the team with eight rebounds. The Lancers fall to 10-8 overall and 3-5 in GSAC play.
Colleen Planeta scored 26 points, 16 in the first half, and also added six blocks for the Sea Lions (17-1, 8-1 GSAC)
Point Loma scored the first nine points of the game and held CBU scoreless for the first 3:47 until Brianna Estell banked in a trey to make it 9-3. The Sea Lions through scored the next seven to lead 16-3 with 14:00 left in the half. Point Loma led 18-5 when Morris scored bookend points in a 10-2 run with a free throw and trey to close the gap to 20-15 with 9:43 before intermission.
The Lancers trailed just 25-18 with 6:28 left when the Sea Lions went on a 17-5 run to take their largest lead of the half at 42-23 and took a 44-27 lead into the break.
The closest CBU came in the second half was 50-37 with 16:31 left before Point Loma pushed it out to a 68-42 lead with a 16-5 run. It was all Loma from there.
CBU was 21-for-55 from the floor and 6-for-17 from 3-point range. The Sea Lions on the other hand were 37-for-62 and were 7-for-15 from beyond the arc.
The Lancers now host Biola, Saturday, at 5:30 p.m.
