The Lancers took set three, but the small glimmer of hope wasn't enough. The Waves regained control in the fourth set and CBU eventually fell, 3-1 (25-18, 25-20, 20-25, 25-23).
The Waves had a hitting percentage of .407 and .467 in the first two sets, and their accuracy and passing were too much for the Lancers.
Pepperdine also had more kills in the first match with 14, compared to CBU's 12.
After the Lancers forced a game four, it looked as if they might have been gaining some momentum. In the third set, CBU had 18 kills over Pepperdine's 14. The Lancers also had a hitting percentage of .607, which trumped Pepperdine's hitting percentage of .462.
In the fourth set, CBU kept it close. It was 20-20 at one point, and the Lancers were looking to force a fifth and final set. Two straight Pepperdine blocks gave the Waves a 22-20 lead and they would sideout the rest of the way for the win.
Levi Cabral led CBU with 25 kills in the match and Brett Anderson recorded 54 assists.
CBU was out-blocked in the match 13.5-5. Another notable statistic for the Lancers was Aaron McCalmont's 13 kills.
The Lancers fall to 6-6 overall, 3-4 in the MPSF and Pepperdine moves to 6-4, 6-4. CBU stays on the road as they face USC tomorrow night. First serve is at 7 p.m.
