USC took set one (25-21), but the Lancers battled back to make it a close match.
In the second set, the Lancers closed the gap and were only down 21-22 after back to back kills by CBU's Guilherme Koepp.
USC was able to regain control and finished off the Lancers 25-22.
In set number three the Lancers were resilient and fought back with a win as they were able to record 10 kills over USC's 9.
The Lancers also recorded a hitting percentage of .660, which happened to be their best percentage of the night, taking the game 25-18.
At one point, the fourth and final set was tied 24-24. Unfortunately for the Lancers, USC received a kill by Christian Rivera and followed up by capitalizing on a service ace by Josh Kirchner.
USC won the final set 26-24 and capped off the match with a 3-1 victory.
Despite the better hitting percentage and out blocking the Trojans (12-5), CBU couldn't capitalize.
Levi Cabral recorded 15 kills for the Lancers and Brett Anderson posted 43 assists on the night.
CBU will try to get back on track when they return home in Riverside against Stanford on Feb. 25.
