UCSB kept pushing and grabbed set point at 24-13. The Lancers banded together and scored straight points on a UCSB service error and kill from Giovanni Llinas Rosa, but the Gauchos managed to net the next point and take a two-set lead in the match.
In the third set, the Gauchos raced out to a 6-1 lead. The Lancers would score three of the next five to pull within 8-4, with a kill from Cody Jackson highlighting the short run. CBU had its best run waiting, as it trailed 19-9 late in the match. Three-straight kills from Paul pulled the Lancers within seven, 19-9, but UCSB moved its way on to the victory with a 25-13 win in the third set.
CBU returns home for two non-conference matches next week. Holy Names and UC Merced will visit the Van Dyne Gym, as the Lancers look to complete the season sweep of both teams.
