POMONA, Calif. – In each of the first three games, there was just one run between California Baptist University and Cal Poly Pomona.

Saturday's series finale was played close, with the Broncos putting up two runs in two of the late innings to capture a 6-1 victory at Scolinos Field. CBU moves to 6-8 on the year, while CPP improves to 11-3.

Stephen Lohr and Jake Gallaway each logged two base hits in the game for the Lancers, with Gallaway bashing a double. Andy Crowley and A.J. David each singled in the contest, as well.

Cal Poly Pomona took a 1-0 lead in the first inning after grabbing some momentum into its first at-bats. Walks to Brian Ruhm and Crowley started something in the top of the first for the Lancers. With two outs and looking to plate a runner, Lohr singled into right field but Crowley was cut down trying to score on a relay throw to first and home.

CBU came back to tie things in the top of the third. Nathan Antoun was hit by a pitch to start the inning. He moved to second on an error and a walk and then scored on an RBI single from Crowley.

The Lancers' offense was productive in the game, as it got runners aboard in the second, fourth, fifth, seventh and eighth innings but was unable to string hits together in the loss.

Stephen Carajabal allowed three hits, two walks and two runs through five innings in his first start of the year for the Lancers. Johnathan Davis threw a 1 1/3 innings for CBU, allowing just one hit in his outing.

The Lancers close out pre-PacWest play with a four-game series at home against Montana State Billings next week, with one game being played each day from Thursday to Saturday. The first three games are scheduled for 6 p.m. starts, while Saturday's finale begins at noon at James W. Totman Stadium.
