RIVERSIDE, Calif. -- For the first time in the MPSF, California Baptist University hits the road for two matches in a row Friday and Saturday at BYU. The Lancers opened conference with six of their first seven matches in the Van Dyne Gym in January.
As always, CBU has a tough road ahead of it in the MPSF, starting with the seventh-ranked Cougars, who have a 6-2, 5-1 in conference record. The Lancers are looking to upset BYU and build on their 3-7, 1-6 record. Not only would a win give CBU its highlight victory of the season, but it would snap BYU 's record 32-match home winning streak.
BYU holds a 17-3 advantage in its series with CBU, and rides a nine-match winning streak against the Lancers into the week. CBU last defeated the Cougars in their own gym in five sets back on January 15th, 2009. The Lancers also posted victories over BYU in 2007 and 2005.
Zachary Melcher and Rocky DeLyon are coming off career nights last week, as Melcher logged 48 assists and DeLyon recorded 18 kills in a four-set loss to Cal State Northridge last Wednesday.
