RIVERSIDE, Calif. — She already added All-PacWest, PacWest All-Tournament, West Region All-Tournament, All-West Region and Academic All-American honors to her bio this year, but California Baptist University's Cassidy Mihalko can now add All-American recognition as well.
Mihalko was named to both the Women's Basketball Coaches Association All-American honorable mention recognition and CCA All-American honorable mention Monday afternoon after leading the Lancers with a 19.9 points per game average. In all but one game this season, the junior guard posted double figures, leading to her grabbing the highest-scoring average in the PacWest. It also put Mihalko on a streak of 28-consecutive games where she scored 10 or more points to lead CBU to its second-straight NCAA Division II postseason appearance.
The Franklin, Wis., native helped CBU win a PacWest Championship and advance to the PacWest Tournament final. Despite the loss, the Lancers picked up the No. 3 seed in their second consecutive West Region appearance. Mihalko finished her junior campaign ranking in multiple NCAA Division II categories, including: fourth in three-point field goal percentage (47.7), 20th in points per game (19.9), and 40th in free throw percentage (84.8). She hit the elusive 1,000-career point mark early in her junior campaign, breaking the barrier at Azusa Pacific on Dec. 5, 2015, and went on to lead the Lancers in 19 of their 32 games.
