RIVERSIDE, Calif. — More postseason accolades came in for California Baptist University's dynamic duo. Michael Smith and Kalidou Diouf were each named to the NABC All-District Team, with Smith picking up All-American honors as well.
Smith grabbed his second All-West District first team honor of his career and his third All-American distinction of this year alone. He finished his four-year career at CBU with 2,031 points to become not only the Lancers' all-time leading scorer, but the PacWest's as well.
The South San Francisco, Calif., native boasted the nation's third-best scoring average with 24.9 points per game. Carried over from last year, Smith scored in double figures in 40-straight games, with 22 games of scoring 20 or more points. He scored a career-high 42 points against UC San Diego, before finishing with 39 points against the Tritons in the West Region semifinal game.
Diouf picked up his first All-District honor by finding a spot on the second team. The junior big man finished with a 15.8 points per game average on 63.8-percent shooting, which ranked seventh in all of NCAA Division II. He led the team with 6.9 rebounds per game and 37 blocks on the year. Diouf finished in double figures in 27 games this year, finishing the season on a string of nine-straight games with double-digit points.
The Lancers made their fourth consecutive postseason appearance this year, finishing the season with a 26-5 overall record.
