AZUSA, Calif. — In the second day of the Bryan Clay Invitational, California Baptist University continued with steady strides and more personal-best times.
Alicia Williams led things off with a two minute, 13.11 second performance in the 800-meter, taking 48 out of 145 runners.
The 1500-meter event went late into the night with 17 heats, just on the women's side. Berenice Cleyet-Merle, who owns the CBU record in the event, was the first Lancer to run the race and finished 64th out of 266 athletes with a time of 4:30.04.
Fruzsi Ladanyi wasn't far off Cleyet-Merle's time, finishing the 1500m in a personal-best time of 4:30.75. Emeline Delanis clocked in at 4:31.33 – which was her career best – followed by Katie Deimling, who posted a personal-best time of 4:35.94.
Charlie Davidson took two seconds off her previous best time, crossing the finish line in 4:39.22. Kim Rabenstein posted a time of 4:46.49, while Leanda du Bruyn took two seconds off her personal-best time to finish the race in 4:47.18. Jennifer Buettner had the biggest improvement on the night, however, shaving nine seconds off her previous best time, clocking in at 5:11.71.
CBU has one meet left before the conference championship held in San Diego at Point Loma April 28-29, heading to the Triton Classic next week at UC San Diego.
