RIVERSIDE -- The Lancer women's basketball team concluded their seven-game homestand with a perfect 7-0 record after defeating LIFE Pacific 93-48 on Tuesday night.
The undefeated start matches the program high set by the 2015-16 team that finished that season 29-3 and made it to the semifinals of the NCAA Division II Tournament.
The game got off to a slow start with CBU leading 6-3 at the first media timeout. The Lancers would go on a 15-3 run following that breather opening up a lead that would eventually grow to as much as 45 before the final horn.
In the third quarter alone the Lancers scored 30 points on 11-16 shooting from the field. Ane Olaeta had her best scoring game of the season, scoring 18 total, including her final seven in that big third quarter.
Every Lancer contributed to the victory as all 11 players who got on the floor scored. Freshman Lauren With saw the most minutes of her young career, making good use of them draining a three-pointer and grabbing 10 rebounds.
The always reliable Sydney Palma did it all scoring 11 points, dishing five assists and grabbing eight rebounds.
Next, the Lancers will travel to Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, to take part in the Greater Victoria Invitational Tournament, a contest that will showcase some of the nation's elite programs.
CBU will start the tournament off against third-ranked Stanford on Thanksgiving night, with tipoff scheduled at 7:30 p.m.
California Baptist will play games on Friday and Saturday as well, with game times to be determined on tournament game outcomes. All the action can be caught on FloHoops and you can keep up to date with all the action via the tournament homepage here.
