
Lancers Claim Three More Top-10 Times

The Lancers logged 17 top-eight performances on Monday at the Jim Reitz Pool. CBU closes out the UNLV Invite on Tuesday, with prelims and finals starting at 9:30 a.m. and 5 p.m., respectively.
Oviedo provided the top-two performances. The sophomore took second in the 400-yard individual medley and 200 freestyle. She set a new season best of one minute, 50.08 seconds in the 200 free, and clocked the eighth-fastest time in CBU history in the 400 IM (4:25.15).

Savannah Uhlir (243.85) and Kiree Lowe (239.50) led the Lancers on the 1-meter board by taking second and third place, respectively. Madeline Wiese took fifth (222.65) and Madison Liu eighth (207.40) in the event, as well.
Nicole Cienega secured another medal finish for CBU when she took third in the 100 butterfly in 56.12. She also swam on the Lancers' 200-medley relay team, which included Hannah Parson, Lauren McKenna and Isabella Rhodes and took third in 1:44.77.
Oviedo and Rhodes also swam on the 800-free relay team with Hannah Houlton and Mackenzie Degn. The quartet took fourth in 7:40.96.
The Lancers were deepest in the 400 IM. Buse Topcu logged a personal record of 4:33.17 in the event to take sixth, while Morgan Giordano took eighth (4:37.50). Kyle Morrison (4:34.18), Elizabeth Brouwer (4:35.61) and Cienega (4:37.07) went one-two-three in the consolation final to take ninth, 10th and 11th overall, while Alina Jungklaus also took 13th (4:44.86).

Two more top-10 times were set for CBU in the prelims of the 100 breaststroke. McKenna and Alexa Melara both qualified for the championship heat with respective times of 1:04.95 and 1:05.29, which rank sixth and eighth in Lancer history. They switched spots in the finals, with Melara taking seventh (1:05.44) and McKenna eighth (1:05.22), while Taylor Dowden (10th, 1:06.72); Mackenzie Mergel (11th, 1:07.00) and Rita Smirnova (15th, 1:08.93) also finished top-16.

Six Lancers took top-16 in the 100 backstroke, with Rhodes (57.94) and Alexandra Walling (58.52) leading the way in seventh and eighth place. Degn won the consolation heat to take ninth (57.82), while McKenna (12th, 59.63); Jordyn Nelson (15th, 1:00.40) and Houlton (16th, 1:00.46) rounded out CBU's showcase of depth in the event.
Vianka Hoyer (56.95) and Rhodes (57.08) finished back-to-back in seventh and eighth in the 100 fly, while Brouwer (58.49) and Parson (58.55) took 12th and 13th. Degn (9th, 1:52.26) and Houlton (15th, 1:56.70) had the Lancers' final two top-16 swims in the 200 free.
