
CBU Sets A New Record in UNLV Invite Finale

CBU secured second place with 1,054 points, behind host UNLV (1,281). The Lancers put up nearly 500 more points than third place Pacific (556), while Fresno Pacific (404) and Lindfield (273) rounded out the standings.
Jacob Leahy and Quinn Birtles provided the biggest highlights of the day for the Lancers. Birtles added another win for CBU in the 200-yard butterfly in one minute, 47.69 seconds after setting a new record in the event at the Pepperdine winter Invite at the end of November (1:47.04).

Leahy set a new CBU record in the prelims of the 100-yard individual medley, with a time of 50.14 seconds. He took second place in the finals (50.35), just in front of Matthew Niculae, who logged the third-best time in Lancer history (51.14). Three more top-10 times were set for CBU in the event, thanks to Elijah Devera (52.11, seventh); Sean Foster (52.24, eighth) and Trent Itow (52.33, 10th).

Joe Molinari's first week of competition for CBU was capped off with him being the top point scorer at the UNLV Invitational. He added to his total with a third-place finish in the 200 backstroke, with his time of 1:48.11 ranking ninth for the Lancers all-time and a ninth-place swim in the 200 fly (1:51.03).

The Lancers' Leahy, Josh Walters, Devera and Niculae also took second place in the 400-free relay (2:57.99). Walters (45.28) and Niculae (45.29) took fourth and fifth in the 100 freestyle, which also saw Leahy take eighth (47.19).
Adityastha Wratsangka took fourth place in the 200 fly, with a top-10 time of 1:50.47. David Miller (seventh, 1:54.42) and Aiden Hobson (16th, 2:01.76) also scored in the event.

Two Lancers added top-eight marks in the 200 back, Robert Moseley (fourth, 1:49.80) and Trevor Van Law (fifth, 1:55.08). Birtles and Babcock both took fifth in the 1650 free (15:55.21) and 200 breaststroke (2:03.64), respectively.
Kyle White (11th, 53.82), Sakeri Holter (13th, 55.09) and Wratsangka (14th, 56.96) all finished top-16 in the 100 IM, as well.
The 200 breast included top-14 finishes from Foster (ninth, 2:02.54); Holter (13th, 2:11.45) and Christian Meyer (14th, 2:12.35). Six Lancers also logged top-15 swims in the 1650 free: Dylan Sweikert, eighth, 16:19.43); Hobson (ninth, 16:21.25); Meyer) 10th, 16:39.24); Miller (11th, 16:55.07); Payton Thomas (12th, 17:00.25) and Matthias Scarano (15th, 17:47.95).
