RIVERSIDE – The 2020 track season is nearing and the Lancers have released their schedule for the upcoming outdoor season. The list includes five return trips to meets attended in 2019 and a trio of new competitions.
"Our primary goal for the track season is to help our student-athletes run fast and achieve their own individual goals, and I believe our schedule will provide us with fantastic opportunities to achieve this," said coach Adam Tribble. "We're very blessed to have so many great meets right in our own backyard with fantastic weather for middle distance and distance running. It's truly a distance runner's dream!"
The Lancers will open the season with the same three meets they opened 2019 with: Pomona-Pitzer on February 22nd, Riverside City College Invite on March 6th, and the Oxy Distance Carnival on the 14th.
They will close out the month of March in the Central Coast taking part in the Mustang Classic at Cal Poly San Louis Obispo on the 22nd.
CBU will open April in Northern California at Stanford. This meet will likely pit the Lancers against their most intense competition of the year, as a storied Stanford program draws elite talent annually.
After the trip to the Silicon Valley, the Lancers will return to Riverside on April 10th to take part in the Chris Rinne Twilight meet hosted by UCR.
This is the first time the Lancers will take part in this event, and only the second time in in program history they will run at a UCR hosted track meet.
Following the pseudo-home meet, the team will travel back up north to take part in the Mt. SAC Relays on April 16th-18th, before returning to close out their regular season at the Steve Scott Invitational meet hosted by UC Irvine on May 1st - 2nd.
The Lancers will finish out the year at the WAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Edinburg, Texas, hosted by UT Rio Grande Valley May 14th-16th.
