Lancers Show Well at SPAR European Cross Country Championship

LISBON, Portugal – California Baptist University sent five runners to the SPAR European Cross Country Championship, representing three different countries. The Lancers had the opportunity to face the likes of Olympians and NCAA champions, among others, on Sunday.
Representing France in the women's U20 race, Emilie Renaud made an impressive debut at SPAR, finishing 24th in the 93-runner field with a 15:03 time in the 4.2k. Renaud came two seconds shy of placing in the scoring-three for France, the bronze medal winner in the women's U20 event.
CBU had three runners competing for Lithuania in three different races, with all three finishing in scoring position for their home country. Greta Karinauskaitė (15:17) took 40th in the women's U20, the fastest Lithuanian in the race. Giedrius Valincius was the lone Lithuanian in the men's U20 race, and finished 54th of 108 runners in the 8.2k course with a 26:49 time. Kamilė Vaidžiulytė (23:41) was the second scorer for Lithuania in the 6.2k women's U23.
Lastly, Arturs Medveds led the way for Latvia in the men's U23 8.2k with his time of 26:49 in the 8.2k.
