FORT WAYNE, Ind. --- The California Baptist University men's soccer team was in full force on Sunday, as the Lancers beat the Mastodons of Purdue – Fort Wayne, 4-0.
"We are really pleased with the performance we saw today," said head coach Coe Michaelson. "The guys executed every aspect of our game plan and put together a complete performance. There's no better way to take the long trip home than on the back of a 4-0 win."
With the 4-0 shutout victory, the Lancers grab their first victory of the 2019 season and move to 1-0-1 on year.
Tete Vacas, who was the hero against IUPUI after his 90th-minute equalizer, picked back up from where he left off with a goal in the opening minute. The Lancers did well to gather a corner kick in the opening seconds, and Oliver Bryneus played a ball into the box that found Victor Aguirre's head, which then led to the right foot of Vacas.

The game settled in after the Lancers' opening goal, but CBU showed no signs of slowing down from its attack.
CBU poured in 10 shots in the first half, forcing the Mastodons to rely on their backline throughout the first 45 minutes.
Vacas was at it again in the 41st minute. Brian Gonzalez was able to play a nice touch to Vacas, who then played it back to Gonzalez for the easy goal to the right side of the net.

The fourth and final goal came on an absolute rocket of a shot from Aguirre outside of the box. Evan Panganiban found Aguirre, who turned to his right and put his best foot forward for the side-bending shot that ended up in the top corner of the net.
